Congratulations, you’re Engaged! Now that the planning is underway, save-the-date cards are the perfect way to get your family and friends in the loop! Save-the-date cards act as a pre-wedding invitation informing your guests of your date and confirming with them that they will be invited to your big day. Here are some tips and tricks to consider when designing your save-the-date cards:
- Your Names
- Wedding Date
- City and Province
- “Invitation to Follow”
- Wedding Website Link (optional)
Do Not Include:
- Venue Name
- Ceremony Time
- Gift Registry Details
Anatomy of the Save-the-Date Card:
The first lines of the save-the-date card should request that guests reserve your Wedding date in their calendars. There are many ways to do this, however “Please save the date for the Wedding of…” is most common.
When featuring your names on the save-the-date cards, there is no right or wrong way to do it. The names do not have to be presented as formally as they do on the actual Wedding invitation. You can include first, middle and last names, just first and last names, or even just first names for a more casual feel.
Again, there are a few various ways you can display this information. It is equally acceptable to use “Saturday, September 26, 2017”, or “September 26, 2017”, or even numerical style “09.26.17” for a more fun and modern vibe.
Only the city and provide of the Wedding should be listed here. Never include the venue name and ceremony time.
5. Invitation to Follow:
It is best to indicate at the bottom of your save-the-date “Formal Invitation to Follow”, as this will help clarify to guests that this is not the actual Wedding invitation, but rather just a quick way to give guests a heads up to be able to mark it in their calendars. Placing this line at the end of the card will also save thousands of questions regarding the venue and time.
